Finally Me 03:39
Finally Me (C)Kevin Fisher I let go of my past The love that didn't last The games I used to play I let them slip away I went and cut my hair Took rings out of my ears They were only symbols of Not feeling good enough Things that I thought were me Were only vanity I lost some time but gained my sanity Now I finally see that I'm finally free And I'm glad to be finally me I've seen much lesser men Go beyond where they have been I figured what the hell I could do that just as well So I bit the bullet hard Clenched my teeth, dropped my guard Leapt up and rose above The crap I used to love I'm not saying I arrived At some heaven I contrived I'm just a man who survived Now I finally see that I'm finally free And I'm glad to be finally me Just look in my eyes and maybe you'll see All that is happening to me I'm not saying I arrived At some heaven I contrived I'm just a man who survived Now I finally see that I'm finally free And I'm glad to be finally me

The Answer Is No (c)Kevin Fisher Everything’s all right, everything is fine Maybe it’s the California weather, maybe it’s the wine Life used to be a battle, now it’s like a game Guess I used up all my bitter accusations There’s no one left to blame Am I getting boring, am I getting dull Am I just ignoring the writing on the wall Am I making excuses, refusing to see All of the nooses encircling me? The answer is ‘no’ I’m happy by myself It’s how I like to be But still sometimes I wonder Is there something wrong with me Am I simply lonely, a bit too reclusive Am I finding friendship just a little elusive Am I fearing love cause sometimes it hurts Am I avoiding humble pie and my just desserts? The answer is... No way, no chance I’m facing the music and I can’t help but dance Am I getting lazy, am I growing weak Am I staying silent when it’s my turn to speak Have I lost my compassion, all of my drive Have I forgotten what it means to be alive The answer is ‘no’

James And His Telescope ©Kevin Fisher James got a telescope, he traded in his bike Thought the highways of heaven might be something he would like With his feet on the ground, his heart starting to pound He waited for angels to fall He stared at the skies with the lens in his eyes He saw nothing at all He’s just a kid with an eye full of hope James and his telescope James went to college where he worked on his degree Mixed a mind full of wonder with harsh reality He aced all his classes in his wire rimmed glasses Excelled in material things But at night in his room he would gaze at the moon And wait for the beating of wings He’s still a kid with an eye full of hope James and his telescope James James James There’s nothing out there but ether and air No angels or demons or saviors Get off of that cloud You’re acting so proud And stop all this foolish behavior But James’ sole relief was his strength of belief He knew angels are real as it gets He just hasn’t seen them yet James raised a family, had an ordinary life And the angels he cared for were his children and his wife He took on some work as a government clerk To pay for the debts that life brings There was sickness and health and the chasing of wealth Sorrows, arrows and slings But he always managed to cope James and his telescope He would gather his family on every Christmas eve He would tell sacred stories of the things he believe But time was a miser, and James none the wiser For waiting so long for a sign And with his last breath he said, maybe in death There’ll be something a pilgrim can find Then he just let go of this mortal rope James and his telescope James James James This is Michael and Gabriel and all the archangels We’ve all come to welcome you home With the seers and sages from all of the ages You never will feel alone It was a beautiful treason to choose faith over reason Cuz you knew it was angels you’d get You just hadn’t seen them yet

Nowhere Else But Here Kevin Fisher/Eric Berdon/Elisebeth Carlisle/David James/Peter Tornell Rolling down the road in a beat up van Trying to make a mark in a rock and roll band Laughing about the struggle and the price we pay For fifty dollars each and a place to stay We left California on a Monday night With the stars of Orion as our guiding light We met the morning with a caffeine kiss And we wrote a little melody that goes like this I feel like Walt Whitman with a black guitar Wondering what a words worth in a smoky bar Chasing a rainbow with an ice cold beer And I’m glad I’m nowhere else but here We’re so glad we’re nowhere else but here We spent the night in a cheap motel We don’t sleep much so it’s just as well We pool our pennies for a meal to share But when we walk on stage it’s like we’re millionaires CHORUS After the show I find my way to a phone To touch the world I left back home We loaded up the cooler at the Circle K Got a full tank of gas now where on our way And we’re not gonna stop till we hit the next town Or the drummer gets hungry or the van breaks down again CHORUS

Jesus, Mary, Mona Lisa (c)Kevin Fisher Jesus, Mary, Mona Lisa Wandering down the Champs Èlysee They tip their hats and say it’s good to see ya Hope your having a wonderful day They take a Hovercraft across the river Jesus could walk but the others might sink They spend a franc on a bottle of water And in a flash they’ve got plenty to drink They smoke some cigarettes they drink some wine They break some bread and butter Man, that sounds divine And if this is what everybody meant by heaven on earth I think it’s kind of literal If you take the truth and write it in cement You throw away everything that’s beautiful, ya, it’s beautiful They met a preacher out of Tulsa, Oklahoma Drove in a limo and his wallet was fat He didn’t recognize Mary or Mona Said, “I thought Jesus was much taller than that” They had a fight about a line in the bible Jesus said, “Hey preacher man, take a second look” The preacher said, “Hey Buddy, I could sue you for libel I know some judges and they’ll throw you the book” PRE CHORUS The preacher said goodbye with a deceptive kiss Mona Lisa grabbed his throat and said, ‘Kiss this’ Jesus went back to his father in heaven Mary went home to a husband named Joe Mona Lisa said, “Forget the museum I met a man and I’m ready to go Smoke some cigarettes drink some fine wine Break some bread and butter Man, that sounds divine” CHORUS

This House Is Haunted (c)Kevin Fisher Pretty little scars, tiny aches and pains From an ancient broken heart where some feeling still remains Hello becomes goodbye, I don’t understand why Love can be so fragile and so strong Cuz sometimes in my dreams I can see your face I guess there are some things that time cannot erase It’s over gone for good, I’d let go if I could But your ghost has a way of holding on Cuz this house Is haunted The floors are all swept clean, the rooms are full of light Who knows what might have been, still it turned out alright But in the corner of my mind just slightly out of view Sometimes I can find a memory of you CHORUS I’ve learned to live at peace with the ghosts of my past They’re quiet at least but if anyone should ask From time to time, once in a while You cross my mind and I smile Cuz this (all the walls and rafters) House (every silent stone) Is (now and forever after) Haunted Cuz my (the deepest part of me) House (body mind and soul) Is (for all eternity

The Fool In Casablanca ©Kevin Fisher You are to me What you always have been What you always will be Till the sweet bitter end In this colorized world You’re a classic black and white Where the good guy gets the girl And they ride off in the night You’re Marilyn Monroe to me You’re Bridgette Bardot to me But when the camera fades to black It reveals a simple fact You go off and play some other starring role And I play the fool in Casablanca Who never should have let you go To the end of my days To the last song I’ve sung You will be my favorite phrase On the tip of my tongue And when the final credits roll And the audience cries You will still be in my soul Cuz this love never dies You’re Marilyn Monroe to me You’re Bridgette Bardot to me But every night when I dream I rewrite the final scene Where you go off and play some other starring role And I play the fool in Casablanca Who never should have let you go Of all the hearts in all the men in all of the world You had to walk into mine You’re Marilyn Monroe to me You’re Bridgette Bardot to me But memories are all I’ve got Of some old fashioned twisted plot Where you go off and play some other starring role And I play the fool in Casablanca Who never should have let you go Oh I wish I never let you go

about

Naked To The World Los Angeles, California

We tried to break up. But there must be some quantum time-shift or random wormhole that forces us to slide back into perpetual existence. We started in 1993, garnered some accolades, released 5 CDs, toured the U.S., had our songs cut by major artists, and garnered a bit of commercial airplay ourselves. We are grateful for everyone who has ever come to one of our shows and enjoyed our music. ... more
